Probably, everybody who lives in Uzbekistan has heard that Namangan is a city of flowers. In spring, when the air is filled with warmth, and nature comes to life, when everything around begins to turn green, the city is drowned in flowers. On the streets, along the sidewalks, near various organizations, in parks there are magnificent flower beds, colorful and pleasing to the eye.
Here, in Namangan, a flower festival takes place every year. This festival has long been known throughout Uzbekistan due to its scale and history. It originates back in 1961. Even then, people came to it from all the nearest republics. This tradition has been preserved to this day. Today, this grand event attracts not only florists from all over our republic and neighboring republics, but also from far abroad countries.
This year, the anniversary festival named “Flowers Festival-2021” is taking place. For 60 years this holiday has been delighting guests and visitors with its beauty. The festival is traditionally held in the central park named after Zahiriddin Bobur.
This time, the “Flowers Festival-2021” takes place from May 24 to 31 in the same place that is the city park named after Bobur. As always, more than 150 entrepreneurs-florists, as well as more than 300 amateur flower growers will participate in it. Since the festival is held at a high international level, among the participants there are guests from South Korea, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands and neighboring countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
This year, the opening of the festival began with a parade of cars: more than 150 vehicles were decorated with flowers and drove along the main street from Namangan Airport to the Bobur Recreation Park, delighting the audience. The main part of the opening was already held in the park.
The Regional Committee for Culture and Sports offered the IZB school a joint project for the flower festival. Our pupils performed at the grand opening. A talented choreographer, Zikiye Vladimirovna Gnezdilova, staged a dance with our boys and girls. That was a chess performance. It was attended by 32 of the most active pupils of the school. Gulnoza Abdulbokiyevna, an English teacher, helped prepare magnificent costumes for the performance. The pupils in costumes in the form of chess pieces resembling flower, showed a wonderful performance that did not leave anyone indifferent. They did it in front of the eyes of hundreds of guests and invited journalists.
Participation in a holiday of this scale, despite the fact that it is not related to study, gives the children a huge experience and indescribable impressions. Therefore, our school is happy to encourage and, if possible, organize participation in such events.
