New Year’s Fair

Often we don’t think about how little we need to do in order to help someone and to do good. A timely outstretched hand on a steep staircase or a slippery path, a dropped purse returned to the owner, heavy bags in the hands of a caring passer-by or 1000 soums added to an old man for a loaf of bread… These minor things sometimes mean so much to people in need of help.

To do good means to give faith that our world is not as terrible and cruel as it often seems, hope for a bright future where people who are able to empathize, sympathize and to feel compassion and are ready to lend a helping hand will live.

It would seem, how can creativity, sales and help be connected? What can unite them and how can one go into the other? Everything is very simple, the answer lies in three words. New Year. IZB. Fair.

The traditional New Year’s holiday fair at the IZB school gives the children an opportunity to express themselves not only in creativity, but also in good deeds. Every year at the IZB school, children prepare various crafts on New Year’s Eve, prepare treats and arrange a pre-holiday fair, inviting teachers, parents and everyone in general to it. Prices are set for all “exhibits” and treats. Anyone can buy something that they liked. And it’s okay that this is a New Year tree made of paper, which any primary school pupil can make, or a snowman made of modelling clay covered with cotton wool like snow, or a paper lantern, like what we ourselves did once in childhood. The soul of those who made them with love is embedded in these crafts. And everyone at the same time tried to make everything look beautiful and pleasing to the eyes, so that his work was bought, because all the money raised at this fair will go to charity to one of the institutions in need of them. Each of our pupils is wholeheartedly ready to contribute something from himself to help people who need it.

This year, as always, the fair was full of colours, festively decorated tables on which the works of our children were exhibited. The eyes ran away from the presented results of the creativity of the pupils, and there was a wish to buy everything.  The children were happy with every purchase of the guests, every little thing sold, realizing that by doing this they would bring good to someone who needs it more than others.

This time, the proceeds were transferred to the Sakhovat Namangan Foundation and to the oncology department of one of the city’s hospitals.

Many of the pupils themselves were present at the transfer and at this touching moment understood how important it is to do good to people.

Getting children to take part in charity, giving them an example of how it is possible and necessary to act, doing people gratuitous good teaches them to keep their hearts pure, sincere, kind and compassionate. And this is also the case when actions speak louder than words.
