Our school cooperates with many organizers of various distance and face-to-face international events, so our children have the opportunity to participate in various international ones.
One of these partners is the Center for Additional Education “Snail” (Russia). “Snail” is known not only throughout Russia, but also abroad. The Center develops distance competitions, Olympiads and tests in all school subjects for both schoolchildren and pre-school children and teachers. More than 200 events are held annually, which bring together participants from 20 countries.
The peculiarity of the works from “Snail” is that they are all presented in their original form. Tests, contests and Olympiads full of exciting tasks in a playful way, and sometimes humor, cause participants not to feel the fear and excitement (of course, we know how children are afraid of participating in such events), but pleasure and interest in the subject. The pupils are impatiently waiting for the start of the next Olympiad to be sure to participate in it. Another feature of these events is that each participant, regardless of the result, receives an incentive – a certificate of participation or a diploma. “Snail” allows all students to participate, and it doesn’t matter what is their level of knowledge of the subject. There is no competitive basis for participation, there is no selection of the smartest and most knowledgeable subject. All these conditions are just perfect for schoolchildren, because due to them, students’ interest in the subject increases, there is a desire to participate even more in such competitions, which means they will put their noses to the grindstones. The pupils have the opportunity to test their knowledge or show them and prove themselves. Almost all competitions and Olympiads contain creative tasks where children can show their imagination. Each such work requires from the participants not only knowledge of the subject, but also logical thinking and a good outlook.
What does participation in contests, Olympiads and tests from «Snail» give? It gives motivation, self-confidence, the ability to express oneself, to see wider and find original ways to solve problems, increase interest in school subjects and, of course, knowledge. After all, every time the children not only show their ability and awareness in the subject, but also learn something new.
Since the beginning of the current academic year, our pupils have participated in several events: in the International Logic Test (autumn season), in the “PISA testing. Mathematics” (autumn season), in the International Olympiad in the Russian language and in the International Robotics Competition-game “Roboolimp”. Now the children are waiting for the next events to take part in them and show or test their knowledge. And the next step is now the well-known English language contest for all our children – the international competition-game for pupils of grades 1-6 “A letter to Santa Claus”, which will be held from December 15 to 21.
