“Amethyst”

The final stage of the trip to Moscow was the visit of guests from Uzbekistan to the private school “Amethyst” and acquaintance with its foundations, educational program, teaching methods and other features.

As always, the main purpose of the traveling to other countries and visiting educational institutions is the exchange of experience and the acquisition of insights. The Amethyst School is an excellent example for learning from experience in terms of teaching methods.

Amethyst is a school of development and growth, a space where every student can find, develop and express themselves.  The approach to teaching at school allows not only to study disciplines, but also to use the knowledge gained in practice. Education at the school is implemented on the basis of 5 educational modules that contribute to the disclosure of talents and abilities of students, their systematic development and stable growth.

The first module “Prep” for children from 5.5 to 6.5 years old is no less important than the main ones when children become pupils, because it is very important to properly prepare a child for school, not only in terms of development, but also psychologically. It is such a soft, gentle, smooth transition from preschoolers to schoolchildren that the children carry out at the initial stage of the Amethyst school. The next module is “New World” (elementary school), for students of grades 1-4. It is here that the children reveal their abilities, explore the world and take the first steps to show and declare themselves. Primary school is the first step to independent life. Next comes the module “All the ways are before us”, which is a secondary school education (grades 5-7). Middle classes open up new opportunities for pupils. The school teaches children to independently determine the goals of their studies, set goals for themselves, try their hand at various fields of activity, think and look for non-standard approaches and solutions. The next is the module of grades 8-9 of secondary school “Everything through me”. Grades 8-9 are a stage of specialized training. This is also the first stage of life where children self-determine and make a decision on which their future will depend. The school teaches children to make independent decisions and take responsibility for them, analyze the situation and correctly prioritize their studies and life. And the final module is “Create yourself”, for pupils of grades 10-11. At this level, high school pupils are already consciously approaching their plans for the future, they already understand in which direction they should move, and the choice regarding the scope of their future activities has already been made, so the last module is an active preparation of children for exams and for the transition to the next  new and no less significant stage than school years.

The Amethyst School offers a full school day from 8 AM to 7 PM. During the whole day, the children have not only basic lessons, but additional classes, which are offered in a wide selection. The school tries to develop its students not only mentally, but also creatively and physically to maintain their health and give them the opportunity to express themselves and declare themselves. Additional classes include sports (football, various types of martial arts and wellness massage), the development of intelligence (chess, mental arithmetic, robotics, programming and sand therapy) and creative groups (painting, choreography, sculpture, theater, pop vocals and piano playing). The school has its own rock band and dance group. Also, of course, the school offers language courses. Such a large choice, which is provided by the school center for additional education, allows children to study with pleasure and benefit and develop comprehensively.

An important distinguishing feature of the school is that it has been working in the Kinder MBA project for 4 years. The Kinder MBA program is designed for students in grades 1-11, it develops business skills, entrepreneurial skills, leadership potential and non-standard thinking. Studying under this program, students receive the necessary knowledge in the field of economics and finance. All this knowledge and skills are relevant in today’s world more than ever.

The search for the problem and the subject matter comes from the children themselves. They carry out the distribution of responsibilities, arithmetic calculations, budget preparation and expenditure, source materials, market research, clientele and final product. During a visit to the school by Matlyuba Ruvazhiddinovna and her colleagues from “Sekhriyo” several groups of 3-4 children showed their economic projects, demonstrating the application of knowledge in practice.

The visit to the Amethyst school gave an excellent idea of the direction in which education is moving now, how it adapts to the requirements of the modern world. And, of course, such trips inspire a lot, after them there are  a lot of new, interesting ideas that can make our school even better and more modern than it is today.
